When I started this site I vowed that I would not write any reviews for superhero comic books because I first wanted to bring attaintion to comics that did not include superhero's, and to show people that there is more to comics then superhero's. I vowed not to review a superhero title until I had written 20 non-superhero reviews. And now, for my 40th review, I have decided the time has come to write a superhero comic book review, and I decided to review one of the best. So may I please direct your attaintion to the review of "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller! Enjoy!

Saturday, April 24, 2004 4:46 PM

I've updated the review of "Mai The Psychic Girl" with a "Consumer Advice" box and I fixed the spelling error's too. Also it appears that Tokyopop is going to start advertising their manga in magazines and on TV! This sounds like an interesting move, but I wonder how many people will take their ad's seriously when they have spelling error's in them.

Friday, April 23, 2004 0:01 AM

I've posted a review for Viz's "Mai The Psychic Girl" which you can go check out and enjoy. Also in case all of you guys are looking for some cheap manga, then (Forgive shameless self promotion) you can check out a few of the books I'm selling on eBay (Again, sorry)! Anyway see you guys Monday for another review!

Wednesday, April 21, 2004 0:10 AM

So what was that special update I was talking about a couple days ago? Well it is a new section where I will post reviews for the comic book movies that are flooding the market these days. Yes it doesn't seem like much, after all it's just more reviews, but after seeing "The Punisher" and reading all these horrid reviews from the critics on how bad it was, I realized that the only people that could review these movies and review them fairly was comic book fans. So every now and then I'll be writing a review for a comic book movie now. I don't know, this just felt like something I had to do here. Anyway the new section can be found in the reviews section, so I'll let you go check out the section yourself instead of directly pointing you to the review, and check back Friday for a COMIC BOOK review! Until then enjoy the new review!

Monday, April 19, 2004 0:03 AM

I did have a new review all planned for today, but yesterday I made the mistake of going to see "The Punisher," and that got me to thinking about a cool new feature for this site. So instead of posting the new review I'm going to post it later on down the road. So what am I uploading today? Nothing to tell you the truth, I'm just updating to let everyone know that there will be a special update on Wensday, so don't miss it. Also did you know that for a limited time you get a special reprint of issue 129 of "The Amazing Spider-Man" (The issue where Punisher made his first appearance)? You do! If that isn't reason enough to go see the movie right now then I don't know what is. However keep in mind kids that the movie is rated R, and it's rated R for a VERY good reason! So sorry, but you might have to wait for "Spider-Man 2" to come out for your next superhero fix. See you on Wensday with the special update (And don't forget to keep clicking the Google ad's to help support the site)!

Monday, April 12, 2004 10:44 AM

Anime Bosten came and went. I didn't get to go (Boo hoo), but I was VERY happy to hear that FUNimation has aquired the "Kodocha" anime, and will start releasing it next year! Happy days are here again! In case you guys didn't know, the "Kodocha" comic is my favorite series out there, and as of this moment its been the only title on this site to get the A+ rating from me (And trust me, I don't have too many titles in to give that rating to), and now it's nice to know that the anime is coming as well! I really don't care what else got licensed now, the "Kodocha" anime is FINALLY coming to America! Oh and also I've posted a review for "Girl Got Game" today. I was going to post my review for "Confidential Confessions Vol. 2," but I realized that if I had done that then I would have reviewed four C titles in a row, and that just felt weird. So I'll save that review for later on down the road (Maybe when I'm in my slump! ^_-). And don't forget that when you buy comics through my site (Or anything through the banners) you are helping to support this site. Anyway see you guys on Wensday for another review (And if things go accourding to plan, maybe a new interview on Friday). Cha!

Friday, April 9, 2004 0:02 AM

No new review up today, however there IS a new editorial up about Archie Comics! So check it out.

Wednesday, April 7, 2004 1:27 AM

Posted a new review. Check it out.

It appears that Anime on DVD, that super popular DVD review website, is working on their very own manga review site called Manga @ AoD.com. Which means that I don't have to simply worry about Mangabits for competition, I have to watch out for this site too. However I'm not too worried, competition is always good, and more people go to AoD more for the news now then the reviews (Because their reviews are always full of spoilers), so I'm not too worried about my reviews being compared to them. Plus I still be reviewing American comics, and I'll also be reviewing Korean and Chinese comics too soon. So AoD is branching out into reviewing manga, but I'm not too worried, because even though I'm still a relatively unknown person out there, my reviews will still be the most honest reviews you will likely find on the internet. I'll state what I think of the series I'm reviewing and nothing more, and for parents who are concerned about the content in their stories, I'll still have that "Consumer Advice" box for my reviews, and those box's won't be filled with politics or religion, just the facts. So stick around with me for awhile, as I've got a couple of exclusive interviews and features that you won't want to miss (And trust me, AoD isn't getting their finger's on some of the projects I'm working on). Also I noticed here that AoD won't be accepting any fan reviews for political reasons, but many people want to submit their own reviews to be read. Anyway I'm not going to promise anything right now, but lets just say that I'm definently looking into having a way for fans to submit reviews to this site.

Keep watching this space for more info.

I've also decided to start reporting news more often. I don't know, it just seemed like the right thing to do. However when I started doing that I noticed that the front page started to get pretty darn big, and that some mildly older news and updates would get burried real easy. So I've decided to make the font a little smaller for the front page, to help even things out a big. If you guys have any problems with the new font size just drop me a line.

There is no new review up today. Instead I made a few tweaks here and there, updated the Dragon Ball review, and made an update archive. Come back Wensday and I should have a new review finished by then.

I fixed some mistakes I made with the JAYMES interview (Yes, there was about seven mistakes. I feel pretty embarrassed right now), so now the interview looks more professional. But I'm not updating just to tell you about the changes in the interview (Because if I had to choose, I would fix the mistakes silently to save myself some embarrassment), I'm here to talk about "Home on The Range." I saw "Home on The Range" yesterday, and I was entertained. Not entertained like "You've GOT to see this movie" kind of entertained, I'm talking about the "It was cute" entertaining movie! It was nothing to write home about (No pun intended), it was just a cute little 76 minute romp. I laughed, I was entertained, and I enjoyed myself, but I can't say that I'll ever really remember this movie. The songs were the most disappointing thing about this movie. You got big country talents like Tim McGraw, k.d. lang, and Bonnie Raitt singing, and on top of that you've got the great Alan Menken writing the songs! You'd think that with this talent involved they would create a soundtrack worth picking up right?

Well sadly, this is where everyone would be wrong, as the songs in this movie were pretty boring to say the least. The songs just didn't have any real flair to them, which is a real shame considering the talent that was involved. However despite the fact that the movie is certainly not the best anything I still want it to be a big success just to spite Eisner. Sadly, judging from this chances are this film won't be a big success, and Eisner's point will be proven yet again. It also won't be a success simply because it's a decent movie, but not a great one. This is a movie I would have told you to rent if it weren't for the circumstances surrounding this film. So yeah I guess I'm still recommending the film if you have kids, but this isn't the way Disney should have gone out, not at all.

I promised you all I would post two reviews and an interview today, and I have kept my promise. Ironically enough, both of the titles I wrote reviews for start with the letter 'C.' Ironic, or just another pointless thing to point out? I know, lame sentence, but no one comes to my site to read my front page rants anyway, I just write them since this is the only spot on my site where I can be goofy and get away with it (I also don't have to spel checc either -_^). Anyway I AM going to write a little bit of something today though, and that's about Disney. Disney movies have always been my favorite movies to go see. For me there is no better pleasure at the movies then going to see the newist animated Disney film. Last year when everyone was seeing the new James Bond film that was in theaters, I opted instead to go see "Treasure Planet" instead (Which I still believe is a good movie that doesn't get the credit it deserves). And today I'll continue my tradition of skipping out of seeing the popular weekend movie (In this case "Hellboy") to go see "Home on The Range."

However today will also end my tradition of seeing the newist Disney movie as thanks to Michael Eisner (AKA, Stupid, stupid money grubbing suit) decided that there will be no more traditionally animated films anymore (Or for those who may not be techinical about these things, there will be no more 2D animated films). Apparently after a string of failers (The biggest being "Treasure Planet," which is ironic since TP was 85% CGI) from the 2D houses, Eisner thinks that he can successfully emulate Pixar and go all 3D. He's even ordering the studio to make bloopers at the end of their movies now (See the end of "Brother Bear" to know what I'm talking about)! The last ten years Eisner has proven to be a real jerk who doesn't understand Disney at all, and today will be the end of a 40 plus year legacy. Thanks a lot Eisner, you're only taking away my yearly tradition because a couple of movies didn't make $300 million dollars. So 2D animation will become a thing of the past with Disney while they move forward with CGI films.

Well if you want an idea of what the "new" Disney will look like just go out and buy the "Brother Bear" DVD and watch the preview for "Chicken Little" on the first disk. Comepletly CGI, and completly copying Pixar. Seriously folks, this new movie looks like every other CGI that's out there. The animation looks like it's sitting between "Ice Age" and "Shrek," and the humor sounds like it's copying Pixar too much. Disney used to mean unique and original...not anymore I guess. If there is anyone out there that actually pays attaintion to my rants (Stupid as they are) please do this for me: PLEASE go see "Home on The Range" this weekend! Take your friends, bring your little brother and sister, whatever, just please see it. I want this film to be a smashing success, just to spite Eisner is nothing else. But the other reason I urge you to go is because this is the last chance ANYONE is going to get to see a living breathing Disney film on the big screen again! To see all those drawings come to life before your very eye's, you'll never get another chance to see that after this.

Also might I recommend you buy the "Brother Bear" DVD for the same reasons? If you want you can even buy the DVD directly from my site to help support me (I'm still out of a job, can you believe it). Which brings me to my final topic: Item of the week. I actually depend on you guys to keep this site running, but no one wants to give another person money and not get anything in return (Believe me, I know the feeling), which is why at the end of each week I'm going to post an "Item of The Week," which is something I think everyone (Or a good portion of people) will like, and put it up so that you guys can buy it directly from my site. Hey, your going to be buying most of this stuff anyway, so you might as well help support a site you like at the same time right? Anyway enough of my rambling, got a movie to catch. Later!
