August 2007

Hey hey all you night owles. I'm updated on the verge between Monday and Tuesday to deliver my review of "Bone: One Volume Edition." You may recall that "Bone: Act I" was one of my first ten reviews I wrote for this site, and I wanted to re-visit the series again after having promised (and failing) to review the last two Acts/Trilogies. This new review might not make up for lost time, but it's interesting to see how my writing style has changed between the two reviews. And guess what: WE'VE GOT PICTURES AGAIN!!!! Yes, I've finally worked out my scanner problems, and I will be added pictures to the reviews again. I'll do my best to add pictures to the past few reviews that were posted without them. You know, to make the reviews look prettier. You may have noticed that the Comic Con eBay banner is still up there. Well, that's because the sale isn't over yet. A couple of items that didn't get sold are going back up, I still have tons of Kwik-E-Mart crap from 7-Eleven's totally cool "Simpsons Movie" promotion I'm selling (all of which is practically impossible to find now), and now I have a "Superbad" poster that was signed by the director, producers, screenwriters, and actors up for sale. I know I'm stressing eBay a lot recently, but I'm looking for money to help fun the self-publishing of my book. Yes, that book I was writing is finished...kind of. I'm working on the second draft right now, I've got the cover made (painted by a good friend who was just accepted into San Diego's Cal Arts school), and I'll be working on the website to help promote the book.

I can't reveil the title just yet (because the title hasn't been copyrighted), but I'll keep you up to date on the progress of the book and when you'll be able to buy it. In the meantime, thank you for being patient with me and this site. I know reviews haven't been as frequent as they could be, but there is a reason for the spuraticness of the updates. Hey, at least I'm posting more reviews then I have been in the past few weeks then I have months right? I don't know if that makes any sense, but either way thanks for reading and I'll do my best to keep the reviews coming.

And so here we are Friday, and wouldn't you know it, I've got a review for everyone. It doesn't have pictures as my scanner is still broken, but I'm going to try and use a friends later on today to get scans for some books I plan to review. With that said, enjoy my review of "Truth, Justin, and the American Way," written by Scott Kurtz and Aaron Williams, drawn by Guiseppe Ferrario. Now, I must confess, while I had always intended to review this book, I actually did it today for a little bit of synergy (if you will). You see, one of the rare items I obtained at the Comic Con that is now on eBay is a signed copy of "Truth, Justin, and the American Way" signed by both Scott Kurtz and Guiseppe Ferrario. The book istself isn't really rare, but the signatures on them are. Particularly Guiseppe Ferrario's signature, seeing as how he lives in Italy and wasn't at Scott's booth for much of the day. The fact that both of them signed this book makes it a collectable item. Oh, did I mention Ferrario also did a sketch in the book? Click here to bid on the book. In the meantime, here are a few other items that may be of interest:

Signed "Penny Arcade: Armadeaddon" Poster

This Penny Arcade poster was sold exclusively at the 2007 International Comic Con and won't be put back into print. Rare and signed. I also have first editions of books 2 through 4 signed for just a few dollars more then retail price.

Signed "Trigun" and "Trigun Maximum" books

Yasuhiro Nightow was back at Comic Con once more, signing copies of his books and doing sketches of characters. Maybe one of these sketchs will pop on eBay next week? We'll see, but in the meantime here's a couple of signed books.

"Gentlemen's Alliance Cross" Comic Con board signed by Arina Tanemura

A pencil board that was sold exclusively at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con. Signed by Arina Tanemura, who wrote "Full Moon o Sagashite." One of my favorite items, but bills must be paid.

"The Art of Bone" signed by Jeff Smith

Yes, the legendary Jeff Smith was at Comic Con and signing away. He signed this one of a kind "The Art of Bone" book for me, which is rare in that there is only going to be one printing of hardcover books, and the rest are all going to be softcover from this point on. Jeff even did a sketch of Fone Bone in the book. A must have for fans (sorry for the high starting price, but the book IS exspensive and rare).

"Rurouni Kenshin Vol. 2" signed by Nobuhiro Watsuki

Okay, so this item is left over from last year, but it's still a "Rurouni Kenshin" book signed by the creator of the series. That in itself is pretty cool right?

2007 Comic Con Exclusive Bugs Bunny Action Figure

Um...yeah, it's a Bugs Bunny toy that you can't buy anywhere else. It looks pretty cool though. I don't know why I'm putting a spotlight on this, maybe I'm hoping I'll get lucky.

Well, that's that for now. And keep an eye out next week, as I sell some Comic Con first day edition stamps. Don't worry, they feature Marvel superheros, so you'll like them.

This is just to let everyone know that (most) of the autographs, collectables, and exclusive stuff I brought home from the 2007 San Diego Comic Con are now up on eBay. A more substantial update will appear tomorrow, pointing out a few of the more noteworthy items, as well as publishing a new review. Until then though, have fun browsing.
