Hey everyone, did you know that if you're a "Prince of Tennis" fan you're going to love "Peach Fuzz?" Apparently not. Some of you noticed that I forgot to update the "Consumer Box" bar in my review of "Peach Fuzz" (wow, I didn't realize anyone read those), and there were some rather embarresing spelling errors. I've gone back and fixed these problems and hopefully something like this won't happen again. Thank you.

For everyone's reading pleasure I have posted a review for the American made manga "Peach Fuzz," which doesn't do a whole lot to buck the trend of mediocre manga-wannabe series. I don't have a lot to talk about today, and I probably won't until the Father's Day season is over at work (I'm going to be overworked underpayed this week), so just remember to come back Wensaday for the picture update.

Hey everyone, know how I said I would update today with a new review? Well, I kind of lied. I haven't lied in the fact that I don't have anything new to show today, but I'm sort of cheating on todays update. You see, I got my latest issue of "Shonen Jump" in yesterday, and after reading the newest chapters of "Yu Yu Hakusho," I couldn't take it anymore. My old review is outdated in how I view the series now, and so I have updated my review to reflect my new feelings on the series. Oh no, I haven't rewritten the entire thing. That would be a waste of my time as well as show a complete lack of respect to my readers who will remember the old grade I gave the series when I first reviewed it. Yes the review is quite a mess (it was one of the first I wrote for this site), but it deserves to still be treated with respect and preserved for nostalgia sake. Don't worry though, I'll post a new review soon. I'm not completely out of my writing slump, but I'll write something new this weekend if I have to force myself to. Also worth mentioning is that Martin Scorsese's excellent "The Aviator" is now on sale, and I highly recomend you all buy that movie as it is an excellent film. Despite the fact that I loved "Million Dollar Baby," I was crushed when "The Aviator" didn't win Best Picture and Best Director, and I guess you could say that my love for "Million Dollar Baby" went down quite a bit when it did win. Oh well, now "The Aviator" is out on DVD and it is well worth owning (notice all the Amazon.com links?).

Hey everyone, it's picture day here at The Comic Book Guy.com. Today I've added pidtures for the "Land of The Blindfolded" and "DearS" reviews. I've also updated my "Sword of The Dark Ones" review with information regarding the name change. I also want to talk about ListerX for a minute. I love ListerX and this is not me ranting about them, so breath a sigh of reflief. Recently ListerX announced that they were looking for new reviewers for their staff. I usually make an announcement about these sort of things because I love that site, it's a great place to get your name out there, and from what I understand from my friends who I've talked to who work there, writing for ListerX can be a lot of fun sometimes. Well the contest was announced and I forgot to tell everyone about it. Sorry guys. I do not know whether or not they have filled all their positions yet, but I guess you are still welcome to send them an application. What I do want to point out is that they have at least one new reviewer named Rumika, who wrote a review for the first volume of "Flowers & Bees" (remember how much I loved that series). I want to bring her up because I just finished reading her first review for the site, and it's excellent. It was entertaining, thoughful, full of useful buying information, everything a good review should be (sometimes isn't). I want to congradulate ListerX on picking her up, as from what I've read, Rumika is the best reviewer on the ListerX staff and they are very lucky to have her. Check back Friday for a new review and a rant about "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith."

And after a week off of writing reviews, I have my two cents for CMX's surreal "Sword of The Dark Ones" up for your viewing pleasure. Right now I'm kind of in a writers block spell. I haven't really felt very motivated to write any reviews, so until I get that spark back I'm going to slow down posting new reviews and only update the site with reviews on Monday and Friday. For Wensdays updates I'll upload more pictures for previous reviews. Hopefully I'll get motivated to start writing again before my emergency stash of reviews runs dry. See you all Wensday.

Hey guys, I escaped from my family long enough to update some reviews with pictures. Enjoy re-reading "Instant Teen," "Tokyo Tribes," and "Tenjho Tenge" with pictures. Catch you later.

Hey everyone, sorry about not updating on Friday, I got too busy too. I am also here to inform you that I will not be updating this week, as my Aunt Mary is in town from New Jersey (yes, THAT New Jersey) and I can't spend my time writing reviews while she's here. Updates will resume to normal next week, thanks for your understanding.

Hey everyone, I've got a special double update today. When I was at A-1 Comics this weekend I was talking to some of the comic book writers and artists. When they asked about my website I told them about it, and one of the guys who runs his own website suggested that I look into adding some pictures to my site, as sometimes it helps visitors quite a bit when they can see what the series I'm reviewing looks like. So for your reading pleasure, the first series to get this feature (one that I'll be waiting for imput on) are "I''s," "Case Closed," and "Firefighter! Daigo of Company M." Enjoy.

Low and behold, today I've got my first webcomic review up. Rejoice everyone, this is an epic event for this site. Yeah, I know, other sites have far more important epic events but I'm on a budget, so work with me here. Hope you enjoy my review of "Megatokyo." I have another editorial I'm writing, so Friday may or may not be a new review. Catch you guys Friday.

Monday, May 9, 2005 0:04 AM

Sorry guys, I know I'd say I'd post the new review on Saturday, but Free Comic Book Day took hold of my whole day (the sales, the sales). Anyway I don't have a new review today, but I do have a new editorial up in the editorials section, one that may actually get me angry letters from my site visitors.

Friday, May 6, 2005 4:02 PM

Hey everyone, sorry about not uploading the new review today, I got so busy I forgot to upload it (spent the whole day sleeping). Check back tomarrow to read the new review. Also don't forget that tomarrow is Free Comic Book Day, so make extra sure to take a few trips to your various comic book shops for your free comics.

Welcome one and all. Today I've decided to review Viz's "Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M." Never heard of it? Then you're missing out on a great series. Read the review to find out what I think of this series. Since I didn't have anything in mind to rant about today, I figured it would be fun to look at several series I've already reviewed and whether or not I still stand by what I said about the series when I first reviewed them:

Shaman King

This is one of those series that got much better as it went along. My first reaction to this series was that it was a fun little time waster, but not very heavy on story or characterizations (what sold me on a high grade was the incredibly awesome artwork). Since I'm reading this series in "Shonen Jump" I am in book eight (or something close to that), and the series has improved dramatically. The story is now more solid, the characters motives are coming into play more and more, and the action sequences are getting ten times better. Oh yeah, and the artwork still rules. If this series continues to get better, I may have to update my current review of the series.

Battle Royale

This series still makes me squirm, still makes me sick, still makes me uncomfortable, and, surprisingly enough, it is still just as engrossing as when I read the first volume. While this series is still not for the weak of heart (and certainly NOT for children), if you can look past the insane premise, you'll discover a dark drama with some of the best characters you'll read in a manga.

Ai Yori Aoshi

This is one of those series I keep asking myself why I continue to read. Whenever Kouru and Aoi's relationship is allowed to make some progress, this series is extremely moving and touching. Which is why it's a darn shame that 95% of the series revolves around "Love Hina" highjicks and hot tub spring chapters where you get get to see lots of booty and tits. Really Kou, it's annoying me now. Everytime time I read this series I feel that it should be better then it is, but everytime it gets really good it goes back to being mediocre again. So why do I stick with it? That's a very good question. Maybe I'll give up on it soon and just sell the books I have of it already and use that money to invest in more "Boys Over Flowers" and "Kare Kano."

Slam Dunk

Um...geez, I just realized that I can't comment on this series progress since the series is still in limbo. Okay, moving on...

Girl Got Game

Okay, so this series has neither improved nor has it gotten worse. It's just been a good shoujo that is disposable, but is fun while it lasts. At least the relationships have progressed in this series, as certain other relationships in other series have been dragging so much that it drives me crazy.

And that's that for today. Does everyone like this update status this? If so, let me know, and maybe I'll do this every week at least once. See you Friday.

A new month, new start, and a new review in the form of Tokyopop's underwleming "DearS." I promise I'll post a positive review on either Wensday or Friday. I have a friend named David who, this weekend, got awarded his Eagle Award for all the stuff he did for Boy Scouts. I know David doesn't read this website (mainly because he's too fixated on "Rurouni Kenshin" and "Case Closed" to be bothered with other comic book series), but I'd jut like to say congradulations again, you deserved that Eagle. As some of you may know, I am a big Disney fan. The past month or so I've been working my way through James B. Stewarts "DisneyWar," a book that has been getting lukewarm reviews, yet is so full of interesting information I can't help but love it. Yes, it's basically a book that tears apart the Disney managment system, and in some ways nothing new is really said (esspecially since the real "Disney war" is still going on), but everytime I read about something that Eisner turned down (making "Lord of The Rings," "Harry Potter," turning down hit shows like "CSI" and "Surviver"), I just can't help but wonder how such a shallow man got to be one of the biggest CEO's in America. A truly good book, one that is worth checking out if you have ANY interest in how Disney works and operates! Yeah, there's my product placement for the day. See you all Wensday.
