November 2004Monday, November 29, 2004 1:19 AMI know, I forgot to update on Friday. Thanksgiving weekend just made me too LAZY to update anything! Good thing I updated on Wensday so that there was at least a second review posted for the week. Since the holiday's now upon us I can't garentee two new reviews a week, but I CAN at least promise one, with another promise that the review scheduel will return to normal once the holiday's are over! With that said I have posted my review for the very strange book from CLAMP called "The One I Love." And let me tell you now that there is no way to write a review for this book and feel like anyone is going to agree with you. So be warned that if you like this book...well, good for you. Wednesday, November 24, 2004 0:18 AMEven though I was pretty busy today, I still found time to post my special Wensday review of "Trigun Maximum" today, as I promised. For those of you who haven't seen "The Polar Express" yet, please make it a point to do so, it's REALLY good! Sorry for the lack of worthwhile rants to read recently, holidays and everything. Well, see you guys Friday. Monday, November 22, 2004 0:04 AMPosted my review of "Instant Teen," which is instantly forgettable. See you on Wensday for a special new review. Friday, November 19, 2004 0:03 AMFor your reading pleasure, I have posted my review for the recently released manga "Boys Be..." If you are a fan of the "Shaman King" series, then there is a petition going on to help save the series. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Yes, I know that Christmas isn't supposed to start until December, but everywhere I go there are Christmas decorations up on houses, in stores, and everything else. It actually makes me sick seeing as how we haven't even gotten to Thanksgiving, and yet we're already celebrating the birth of Christ. Unbelievable. Well, I know there is one thing toy companies are thankful for: Early commercialism. Just for the record though, I already have all my Christmas shopping done. Not because I'm a commercial person, I just get my Christmas shopping done early so that I can spend as little time out of the house as I can during December. Since I hate large crowds being outside of the house at Christmas time drives me absolutly crazy. Being in my favorite bookstore? Crowded. Going to the comic shop? Crowded. Eating at freaking McDonald's? Fast food no more. In short, I love Christmas, I love December (my birthday is in December), but I just hate the world in December. Well, that's wrong, I don't hate anything, I just hate how crazy things get during that month. Still, I WILL be risking the crowds on December 14th so that I can get "The Lord of The Rings: Return of The King" Extended Edition DVD. Monday, November 15, 2004 0:12 AMSorry for not updating on Friday, but "Halo 2" (and work) kept me from updating. Oh well, at least I gave you all a heads up. My review for "Whistle!" is now up. If I have time I'll post my rant tomarrow. And hopefully I'll have a review up on Friday too, and there will most likely be three new reviews next week (for a special reason). See you all later. Tuesday, November 9, 2004 2:45 PMJust a heads up, if I forget to update on Friday you can blame it on "Halo 2." Because this game is so freaking sweet I don't want to stop playing it. In fact, I've got it paused right now, and I'm going to go play it some more. Hopefully I won't forget to update on Friday because of this game. Monday, November 8, 2004 0:20 AMPosted my review of "Inu-Yasha." I know, this was supposed to be up on Friday, but I got too busy to post anything last week. I'm glad the election is over. I think that politics are interesting to talk about, but this year politics have become more of a headache then anything. Politics invaded book stores, where there were seven news books each week on why Kerry would make a better president then Bush, and why Bush deserves another four years in office. One of the highest grossing movies of the year was "Fahrenheit 9/11," and due to the fact that there have not been very many Oscar worthy movies this year, the Academy might actually honor this propaganda commercial with the Best Picture award. I weep for the Academy. And then it was the news, and the comics, and...gosh, it just got to be too much. So the election is over, Bush won, we can finally move on with life (and if you're threatening to move to Canada because of the results, go ahead, I'm too exausted to argue with you). I saw "The Incredibles" this weekend, and I loved it. No, this is not a comedy. In fact, it's not even a movie that leaves much to the imagination like most Pixar movies do. No. What this movie is is a great action/drama from Brad Bird. If you go into this movie thinking it will be another "Finding Nemo" you are in for a rude awakening. "The Incredibles" is NOTHING like "Finding Nemo!" Whether or not this is a good thing or a bad thing is entirely up to you to decide. Pixar's last film for Disney is going to be "Cars," and then they will split. Hopefully with Disney out of the picture Pixar can make an equal amount of good entertaining G rated family films, and make enough experimental films that will raise the bar for animation (maybe they can make a GOOD PG-13 rated animated movie, which is something everyone else seems to have trouble doing). Since we are talking about Brad Bird may I point you to the item of the week on the left bar. Brad Bird's first animated feature film was "The Iron Giant," which is probably the best non-Disney animated film made. Warner Bros. has released the film in a new special edition DVD, and if you haven't seen the movie yet I highly recomend you do. Monday, November 1, 2004 11:49 PMDon't forget to vote everyone! Monday, November 1, 2004 10:10 AMDarn, I MUST have been tired when I updated this morning, because I forgot to give you the link to the Jake Forbes interview! Well, I feel sheepish, hopefully that will never happen again. Monday, November 1, 2004 0:49 AMA new month, new commentary, but no new review...at least not today. Today I've posted an interview with previous Tokyopop editor Jake Forbes, who is now helping Dallas run www.gomanga.com. I'd usually talk more, but I'm extremely tired tonight, which to some credit doesn't happen often, but when it does happen I must respond with some good old fashioned sleep. If I wake up before I have to go to work maybe I'll write a commentary post then. See you later. |
