CONSUMER ADVICE

Parents, if you have a big problem with a girl who dresses like a stripper, shows her panties every five panels, make more sexual harassment remarks in five pages then a typical "Law & Order" crime lord does in three episodes, is extremely stupid and unlikable, and blows peopls brains out you might want to skip this one. I don't know who would honestly like this title.

Action fans will hate the overly stupid fights (That consist more of panties being shown and bloody noses everywhere then actual action).

Drama fans will have a hard time taking this thing seriously. And comedy fans will find the atempts at humor just plain sad.

I am convinced that if you try hard enough, you can make one of the worst movies in the world and honestly think it's a masterpiece of some kind. The same thing goes with comic books; you can try your darned hardest to make a good series, but you can still end up with quite a turkey if you try hard enough! From manga "mastermind" Niwano Makoto, and brought over to us courtesy of Gutsoon, comes "Bomber Girl," easily the worst series I have EVER had the displeasure of reading! What a disaster this series is. I'm not even sure how to properly explain how sloppy, poor, and unprofessional this series is, its most likely the worst thing to happen to the comic universe PERIOD! If you read this and tell me that you have read worse, then I would just LOVE to know what you think is worse then THIS!!! From the art, to the characters, to the "story" (And I hesitate to use that word), the whole thing just reeks of unproffessionalism (Have no idea if that's a real word or not) and poor writing (And to think the author had the nerve to call this one of his favorite creations. If that's the case then I'd hate to read the series he considers bad).

So what IS so bad about this series you ask?

Well this series is about Ramboshi Emi, who is a beautiful bounty hunter of the night. Every night people get into trouble, and she must help out those who are in trouble. So she gets dressed in clothing that would make a stripper blush (Simply put this is the most outrageous and silly costume I've EVER seen! You really need to see it for yourself to fully understand how awful it is), take some guns with her, shows the bad guys her panty's (Which makes EVERYONE in this series goggle-eyed and useless...even the women), and then she saves the victim! And after the whole ordeal is over, she hands the victims a bill for her services, saying that if they don't pay her for her services she'll hunt them down and fill them instead. And how do the victims respond to this? They simply say that their her slaves for life, and that they'll do ANYTHING for her (Their sex kitten as one guy calls her). *snicker* Never before have I seen such an unlikable lead character before (Or least likable extras), it borders on my tolerance a lot more then it should. Anyway we've already got a stupid premise, terrible art, and one of the most unlikable lead characters in a long time, let's see what else we can accomplish by the end of the day,

Enter Guy Kurosaki. Guy is police offer who reads about the daily "rescues" of Ramboshi Emi in the paper, and is annoyed at her because she may be capturing villains, but what she's doing to the victims is illegal and awful (Note: This is the only common sense that we ever see in this book). Of course this argument is perfectly valid in every way, but his partners all insist to let it go since she's hot, and apparently no one wants to lock someone who looks THAT good up! Well this is of course some of the stupidest thinking on the cops part, and it makes you wonder what exactly the tax dollars are REALLY being spent on, because they certainly aren't hiring good cops! Still with this twist we do feel sorry for Guy. After all he's the only sensible person in this entire series so far. Anyway this doesn't last long, as when Guy goes home he runs head first into Emi's breast, foddles it for a minute (Or in comic book time a page), and decides that he has fallen in love with this girl (Despite the fact that she punched and kicked him into the wall for doing this). Before Guy's credibility falls completely off the charts he is called in to help out with a "situation."

Guy being the only decent character in the series goes over to the scene of the crime only to find the girl of his dreams at the scene of the crime: Ramboshi Emi. Guy realizes at this point that the girl he loves is really the bounty hunter he hates so much (It didn't take him very long to figure this out since Emi's "disguise" is less effective then Superman's disguise). Ouch. Now this would be an interesting twist here: Guy HATES Ramboshi Emi, and yet he discovers that the girl he loves is the person he hates so much! This would be the perfect opportunity to create some REAL conflict (And hopefully some momentum to save this story), but unfortunately this title DEMANDS to be stupid! So instead of getting any potential conflict, Guy decides right on the spot he can't kill her either, end of story. Yeah, whatever just popped into your head a minute ago is what I was thinking too. You just can't help but feel that maybe Guy deserves to be in a different series altogether. Moving on we soon find out that Emi is really disrupting the plans of an evil warlord, who has big plans for the world. What those plans are we don't know because we need to get away from him so that we can watch Emi do more suggestive poses (Although personally I suspect he wants to be the king of Burger King...but that's just me).

After more posing, more nose bleeds, more killing, and more stupidity, this story ends with one of the worst endings I've EVER seen in a comic book series! Even at a scant eleven chapters this story seems to be stretched out to a length that was truly not necessary...at all. As you can probably figure out I'm no fan of this series. This is easily the worst series I have ever seen. It's no more complicated then that, and you would be foolish to think there was more. From beginning to end "Bomber Girl" is a train wreck that fails on every basic and non-basic level! From the lousy art, to the poor characterization, to the ludicrous story, unlikable lead character, and just plain awful EVERYTHING!

This series was used to launch the (At the time) weekly manga anthology "Raijin Comics," and why Gutsoon choose to include this in their new magazine I'll never know. When I picked up the magazine I was enjoying what I reading, and then when I got to this series at the end of the book I just stared in disbelief at what I was reading. I could not imagine who thought it would be a good idea to make a series where the main hero was a female moron who showed her panties off in awkward poses all the time to defeat her enemies (I find it harder to believe this trick worked after more then two chapters), where EVERYONE falls in love with this bimbo the second they lay eye's on her (Never mind she's a selfish jerk), and where the climax is wrapped up in seven panels (Not pages, PANELS)! This series also managed to make a bad name with itself for women since they found the series to be highly offensive (If it makes you gals feel better, you may be glad to know that most men were offended too).

Luckily its not a long series. As noted above it's only eleven chapters, and there's only one book to buy, but why you'd want to waste your money on such a poor product is beyond me. The $9.95 you spend here could be spent on better books...like "Good-Bye, Chunky Rice." I'm begging you right now people; PLEASE stay away from this book! Its so bad on every single level there is, that I'm tempted to grade it Z. So why don't I grade it Z? Because apparently there is a sequel to this book called "Bomber Girl Crush," which is supposed to be much worse then this one. And guess what, Gutsoon is apparently looking into picking it up! If that's the case I need to save my first Z grade for that (Although if Gutsoon is smart they'll leave that series in the Japanese bargain bins where it belongs). However "Bomber Girl" is still a LOW F grade, and you'd still be better off leaving it alone when you see it in the book store! There are much better series you could be buying, so start looking.
